The Cotswolds

The Cotswolds is home to some of the country’s most scenic towns and villages. The area is famous for honey-hued churches, gentle hillsides (‘wolds’), being so ‘typically English’ and its mellow stone buildings. The local honey-coloured limestone, used for everything from the tiles on the roof to the stone floors in the houses has ensured that the area has a magical uniformity of architecture and an arrow-straight Roman road runs through the beautiful countryside.
